Aims

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the various stages of research involved in Art History and enable them to carry out a scientific study of a work of art or theme, going through the process of documentation, historiography and description.

Main themes

During this course, students will carry out work on painting, sculpture and architecture (involving them in descriptive and monographic work, using specialist vocabulary and bibliographic research). They will also gain exposure to how cases are handled in the professional Art History world.

Content and teaching methods

The course teaches Art History methodology, analysing works of art, internal and external criticism, documentary research, independent thinking and setting the work of art in its context.
