Aims

Fundamental Dogmatic Theology: Hermeneutics
By the end of this course, the student should be able to reflect on the hermeneutic nature of theology, on the relationship between theological hermeneutics and philosophical hermeneutics, on the history and challenges of hermeneutic theology.

Main themes

Nowadays, we readily define fundamental theology as the hermeneutical function of theology, in the sense that it attempts to establish a critical and mutual correlation between interpretation of the Christian tradition and interpretation of our contemporary human experience. This course seeks to shed light on that function - made a privileged theme in the two great chapters of all classical, fundamental theology: revelation and faith - and its methodological consequences for all theology today. Every year a special question is treated, differing from year to year since this is a third cycle course.
