Aims
By the end of the exercise tutorials, students will:
- be able to distinguish and name the parts of speech and to identify the functions these are likely to take on in a French sentence;
- be able to distinguish the types of propositions in a compound sentence;
- be able to formulate and systematically apply the rules of normative grammar;
- know the main rules of spelling;
- be able to reflect on the norm and its applications.
Main themes
The exercises will comprise of the analysis of the parts of speech and of syntactic propositions; the rules of agreement, as well as verb morphology and the main rules of spelling in French. Students will learn to justify the way they apply these rules.

Method: As often as possible, rules will be deduced through the observation of grammatical and syntactical facts, but systematic presentations may also be given; exercises of application will be prepared at home.
