Aims
The student will acquire the means to construct a scientific dossier in preparation for the writing of licence thesis. The student will learn how to use, analyse and summarize reference works. Emphasis is placed on field work.
Main themes
The course is organized in group or individual work sessions which expose the students to the problems of historical, archaeological, and aesthetic analysis of works (architecture, sculpture, painting, etc.), introduce them to the writing and illustration of a monograph, and approach questions they will have to resolve during the licence. Practical assignments/Exercises "in situ" and on museum pieces.
Content and teaching methods
Assignments by the students to be done over the whole year, the guidelines for which will be given during the sessions.

- summary and analysis of a scientific article.
- analysis of topographical documents.
- historiographical assignment on the history of painting.
Progress will be evaluated during the sessions.
