This talk will be about a work in progress to generalize a well-known method (by Deift, Kriecherbauer, McLaughlin, Venakides and Zhou) to obtain large \(n\) asymptotics for orthogonal polynomials on the real line. Our goal is to arrive at similar results for matrix valued polynomials orthogonal with respect to an exponential-type matrix weight \(W(x) = e^{-x^2}e^{x A}e^{x A^\ast}.\) We will compare some things that work and some that don’t. Joint work with Pablo Román and Alfredo Deaño.
