Message of the Coordinator

The next DYSCO Study day will be organized by the UCL team and will take place on Thursday May 19, 2016 at the Hotel Ibis Styles in Louvain-la-Neuve. We will try out a new format where posters sessions are replaced by a speed dating session. We invite you there to find out what it is all about. You will find more details of the program below.

I would als like to draw your attention to our next graduate course on the Control of distributed parameter systems which will be given by Denis Dochain (UCL/ICTEAM) and Joseph Winkin (UNamur), starting this month. I encourage you to attend these events.

I also wish to congratulate Sabine Van Huffel (KU Leuven) for her election as SIAM fellow and Estelle Massart (UCL) for her best presentation award at the Benelux Meeting of last month.

Announcements

KUL

The KUL team has the pleasure to announce the release of Tensorlab 3.0. Tensorlab is a Matlab toolbox for tensor computations, structured data fusion and complex optimization.

In Tensorlab 3.0, dedicated algorithms for the decomposition in multilinear rank-(Lr,Lr,1) terms have been added. The new release introduces a tensorization framework and offers increased support for handling large-scale and structured datasets. The performance, user-friendliness and capabilities of the domain specific language for structured data fusion have been enhanced, and a new tool has been developed for the visualization of tensors of arbitrary order. For more details on the new functionality, we refer to the detailed release notes which can be found here.

A collection of demos have been added to illustrate how Tensorlab can be used in various applications. These demos can be accessed here. Additionally, an extensive new online manual can be found here. The demos and manual can also be accessed through the new website which can be found here.

The toolbox is free to use for non-commercial research. We hope that you will find it useful in your research and we welcome all suggestions and feedback.
