General presentation of the programme

The bachelor in Religious Studies (180 credits) is composed of one single line of studies (major, 150 credits), common to all, and a minor of 30 credits (2 x 15 credits in 2nd and 3rd year).
 
The major one in Religious Studies is made up of :
  • Introduction to all the main disciplines of the theology and religious studies (75 credits)
  • Philosophy (Introduction, Anthropology, Metaphysics, Epistemology) (21 credits)
  • Ancient Languages (Biblical Greek and Latin) (11 credits)
  • Modern Language (English) (6 credits)
  • Methodology of Theology, Heuristics and final dissertation (16 credits)
  • Courses to be chosen in: Biblical Exegesis (Old and New Testament) ; Reflection on Dogma ; Ethics ; History of Religions ; Practical Theology (21 credits)
 
The first year of the program is made up exclusively of obligatory courses (60 credits) ensuring an introduction to the basic disciplines as well in theology, methodology, as in philosophy and social sciences.
As from the second year, the student will complete his major by a minor of his choice in Theology and in Religious Sciences by additional courses for a total of 30 credits or by a minor in another Faculty (Philosophy and other sciences, useful for the studies in Theology, are highly recommended).
 
A possible reorientation of the studies is possible at the end of the first year of bachelor who exempts courses in several disciplines of the social sciences, for exemple of the Faculty of Philosophy, Arts and Letters (FIAL).

A progressive specialization of the student is possible by the means of the inscription to university certificates EBIBI9CE Certificat in biblical studies and SREL9CE Certificat in sciences of the religions for an admission respectively in EBIBI2M Master in biblical studies or SREL2M Master in sciences of the religions.
