Practical information

Enrollment details

The minor in computer science is a minor with restricted admission conditions, except for student's following a bachelor in mathematical science.

Students who are not following a bachelor in mathematical science and who wish to enroll in the computer science minor as part of their bachelor programme must send their application via the secretariat of their faculty to C. Poncin no later than July 15 of the student's first year of his/her bachelor studies (possibly under the additional condition that the student has to succeed in September).

The application must include :

  • the report listing the final results for every course of their first bachelor year. Students who pass their first year in September must hand in the marks of the June session by July 15 and must take the initiative to send their marks for the September session within 2 days following the deliberation if they wish for their application to be considered.  
  • a letter motivating why they are interested in the minor in computer science. 
  • a CV containing any information that can be judged as relevant to their interest in computer science and IT (experience of Windows, Linux or other operating systems, knowledge of programming languages or specific software,...) and their level of mathematics in their first bachelor year (list of courses) and at secondary school (hours/week).

Any student who is interested in the minor in computer science must provide a valid email address. This address will be the only means of communication used.


 Registration to the minor activities

1) Information on the course prerequisites

Courses taken in this minor must necessarily be chosen in an order that respects the following requirements :

  • the following 4 courses must be taken in the order indicated: LSINF1160, LSINF1161, LSINF1225, LSINF1121
  • LFSAB1402 must precede LINGI1131
  • LSINF1252 must precede LINGI1113

2) Registration to the minor activities

Registration to the minor activities should be taken at the same time as registration to the major activities.

3) Via of the head of the minor

Students must contact the contact person no later than the second week of the first semester to validate their course list.

To solve scheduling problems, the organisation of the courses could be adapted.
In case of scheduling problems, the student should contact the contact person.


Exam organisation

1) Exam registration

To register to exam related to the minor courses, students should follow the instructions provided by their faculty. 
For oral exams, students should contact the EPL secretariat.
