Preparatory year for Master in Linguistics

AnnéesAccessible aux étudiants diplômés de l'enseignement supérieur non universitaireProgramme non académique

Retour en début de pageStudy objectives

The preparatory year provides students with some basic skills in linguistics to help them sucessfully follow the Master [120] of arts in Linguistics [120.0] .

The programme is composed mainly of introductory courses to linguistics to supplement students’ initial training. It focuses particularly on courses which help students consider language as a « global semiotic sign » and not only linguistic. Students must possess a certain number of essential concepts  in order to understand how a language functions, both internally (units and basic structures, contemporary theoretical trends) and externally (links with other disciplines).

Retour en début de pageEvaluation

Depending on the nature of the course and the teaching activities in question, the evaluation will take different forms. Some courses will involve oral and/or written evaluations (held during one of the three exam sessions), whilst the evaluation of seminars will involve more substantial participation on the part of the student as well as assessment of individual course work. Those exams relating to courses on communication skills will evaluate the student's level, i.e. the practical use of the language in relevant situations.
