Main themes 1. The course covers two linguistics fields: Dutch phonetics and phonology, and Dutch morphology. 2. Introduction to the reading (and writing) of scientific articles. 3. Presentation of reference books.
Aims Provide a foundation course in Dutch phonetics, phonology and morphology. The students should also be able to analyse reference books with a criticizing mind.
Content The course is an introduction to Dutch phonetics, phonology and morphology. Phonetics and phonology (vowels, diphthongs, consonants; co-articulation; accentuation and intonation). Morphology (inflection and derivation).
Other information Prerequisite : GERM 1133. Assessment: written and oral exam (+ essay). Teaching materials : 'syllabus' available from the teacher.
