The Master in Business Engineering is a two-year management programme which is designed to strengthen the management skills of students who have already gained a first qualification in science and technology. It is designed to provide them with the skills and knowledge which will enable them to fully understand the complex and varied issues that companies in the knowledge economy have to face. They also have the possibility of specializing in functional or cross-disciplinary areas of management as well as preparing for doctoral level research. Against this background, the Master in Business Engineering places special emphasis on the development of skills which will enable students to :
1. model and formalize problems and management situations with a view to finding solutions and improvements (management science ;
1. have the general knowledge that any business should expect from a management student ;2. demonstrate initiative and independence in decision-taking (with teaching methods geared to problem resolution) ; General presentation of the programmeThe Business Engineering programme is made up of courses with a professional focus, special subjects or courses, an exchange programme as well as a thesis, an internship and compulsory courses from the core subjects of the programme. During the first year, students attend courses linked to the professional or research focus and to the specialized option courses. The exchange and the core subjects are done in the second year. In the first year, students first choose a professional focus worth 30 credits that will develop skills in management functions. There is a group of courses on project management and technological innovation. Students must also choose two options of 15 credits each in the same special subject which will enable them to specialize in a cross-disciplinary or functional area. Certain options are taught in English (EN), others partly in English and in French (EN/FR). Certain special subjects are available at the Louvain-la-Neuve campus whilst others are at Mons and Namur campus. Students who do not wish to specialize will only be able to choose from the basic option courses from each special subject of the Louvain School of Management (LLN-Mons-Namur).
Among the special subjects available at Louvain-la-Neuve from which the student can choose are : Innovation (EN/FR), Environmental Management (FR), Supply Chain Management (EN), Corporate Finance (EN/FR), Strategic Marketing (EN/FR) and Entrepreneurship (EN/FR). During the second year, students may
