Teaching methodStrong points of the pedagogical approach Given its professional nature and solid methodological foundation, this programme offers a wide range of opportunities to put skills to practical use in doing individual computer analyses of real data and a project carried out in cooperation with a company. Most of the courses include a practical project which is assessed. This allows the student to actually use the skills introduced in the methodology sections in a systematic way and is also good preparation for the world of work. Project work also creates a stimulating and friendly team spirit amongst the participants. Students must do a work placement in a company (or in a research unit) to complement the methodological aspects of the dissertation. The teaching staff is made up of full-time academic staff and senior professionals, most of whom have a PhD. This diversity ensures both the strong academic quality and the professionalism of the study programme. There is an oral or written exam for each part of the programme ; there may also be a project leading to a report which is assessed. The work placement and the dissertation also involve the production of a document which must be defended in an oral examination. The dissertation must be presented to a panel of examiners comprising the dissertation supervisor and an academic rapporteur. The report on the work placement is also presented to a panel of examiners formed of the placement supervisor, the academic supervisor and an academic rapporteur.
