Main themes
In order to achieve this end, - a group of Old Testament texts, selected for their methodological or theological interest, will be studied; - particular attention will be paid to the method, in order to introduce the students to critical research in biblical exegesis or theology.
Aims
At the end of this course, the student will be able to offer a scientifically accurate comment of an Old Testament text, situating its particular contribution in the general topic of the course.

Evaluation methods

Classical written exam, or paper consisting of the study of a scene of Jacob's story (this study has to be based on the Hebrew original text)

Content

2016-2017

Narrative study of the first episodes of Jacob's story in Gn 25,19-27,45. The underlying question in this reading is the following one: What is the place, the role and the impact of the episodes of chapter 26, where Jacob does not appear, in the narrative coherence of the beginning of his story. A particular attention will be paid to questions of method.

Prerequisite : A good introduction in the narratologie (if possible applied to biblical texts).
