In this course we analyze de learning activities undertaken by adults at the workplace or in a training context. We focus upon a specific research theme and we conduct a research from beginning to end in order to study the learning activities of adults in a particular context. The research theme changes each year (for example: informal learning activities in teams of firemen; work-related learning activities of older workers; learning activities of adults in mandatory training etc.)
A la fin cette unité d'enseignement, l'étudiant est capable de :
- To understand and describe the context in which adults undertake learning activities
- Formulate a research question in relation to the learning activities of adults
- Understand the key concepts of the selected theoretical framework
- Set-up a research in order to analyze the learning activities of adults
- Analyze, interprete and synthesize the research results which are obtained via the research
- Communicate the results obtained from the research done on the learning activities of adults in front of peer students via a poster presentation
The contribution of this Teaching Unit to the development and command of the skills and learning outcomes of the programme(s) can be accessed at the end of this sheet, in the section entitled “Programmes/courses offering this Teaching Unit”.
The students are evaluated on basis of the quality of the analyses done on the learning activity of adults. During the first course, they get an overview of the different evaluation criteria for the summative assessment. During the course the students receive formative feedback on their data-collection, their analysis and the presentation of their results.
Active and research-based approach. The teacher is giving an introduction course on the research theme. The students then set-up a research from beginning to end. Via this research approach they analyze the learning activity of adults in a particular context. At the end of the course, the students present the results of their analysis
