Introduction to Linguistic and Literary Analysis of Spanish Texts [ LROM1743 ]

Main themes

- Consolidation and deepening of (normative) grammatical knowledge acquired in the first two study years. - Descriptive and critical study of Spanish grammar (especially the syntax of complex sentence); - Tutorials aiming to improve listening and reading comprehension on the basis of authentic documents; - Tutorials aiming to broaden active knowledge of the basic vocabulary; - Tutorials aiming to develop the mastery of oral and written expression.

Aims

By the end of the course and the tutorials, students should be able to: - understand the grammatical structure of Spanish and its usage; - master the practical application of the above; - show both oral and written communicative skill in Spanish, and reach B2 level.

Content

Content : - Complex morphosyntactic contents from a normative point of view corresponding to level B2. -Speech acts characteristic of B2 level. - The register, the vocabulary and cohesive resources associated to different genres. Teaching Method : The course is divided into two parts: sessions in a large group and tutorials in small groups. The sessions in large groups are devoted to the acquisition of grammatical contents by means of an inductive method. The activity is conceived as the key of the learning process. Most of the explanations are based on Aspectos de sintaxis del español. Students are invited to consult this grammar. The tutorials are devoted to the internalization and automatization of the contents introduced in the large group sessions by means of: 1) communicative exercises; 2) the correction of structural exercises from the Cuaderno de ejercicios; 3) an assessment on a dramatic text consisting of : - performance of an excerpt of the play, - and written assessment about the syntactic structures of the excerpt (see more detailed instructions on i-campus).
