Introducing Python

[6 half days] - [starts on 05-05-2025 at 09:30] - [English] - [Louvain-la-Neuve]

Would you like to discover Python, an interpreted and object-oriented programming language that is now widely used in data analysis and machine learning?

Python is an interpreted and object-oriented programming language. Thanks to a simpler syntax construction, Python is more readable compared to other object-oriented languages such as C, for example. Free and open source, this programming language is regularly enriched with new modules of functions provided by users.

Training aims
At the end of this training, the participant will be familiar with the syntax of the Python programming language. In particular, the main Python data structures will be presented in this course. Standard packages for data visualisation will also be introduced.

Prerequisites
None.

Content
• Python programming in Jupyter Lab and Spyder (available through the ANACONDA distribution);
• Discovering Python objects: integers, floats, booleans, lists, dictionnaries, tuples;
• Programming tools: conditions, loops, functions;
• Creating new objects using the class statement;
• Reading and saving files;
• NumPy and Pandas, for the data management;
• Data visualisation using matplotlib and seaborn.
