A Numerical Model for Dissimilar Lap Joint FSW by Using Particle Method

In this study, a numerical model for FSW is developed and applied to dissimilar joint. Dissimilar joint made by FSW has some features such as difficulty of stirring two materials and dissimilar heat flow in work piece. Numerical model can easily visualize material flow and heat flow. In this paper, aluminum and SUS lap joint by FSW is calculated by particle method. Effect of tool rotation speed and tool shape is evaluated through temperature distribution and material flow around the tool.
