Aims
This seminar is an introduction to the history and religious thought of Judaism, from the Middle Ages to the present. The course emphasises the diversity of currents, their sources and their specific contributions.
Main themes
Without ignoring the presence of Jewish communities in the East and in North Africa, special account is taken of interactions between the Jewish world and Western society, Christians and laypeople. Using an historical itinerary, the contribution of Judaism to European civilization and thought is demonstrated.
