Aims
This seminar is an in-depth study of themes in Buddhism and an introduction to the comparative study of Buddhism and Christianity. It also introduces students to the methods of comparative studies as well as to the presuppositions of inter-religious dialogue and the theological work it requires.
Main themes
Taking Buddhism as a starting point, the seminar is built around one or more selected themes. Without lingering on superficial similarities, we basic structures and essential motivations are pointed out on both sides, in order to compare them and analyse what these traditions may represent to one another.
Content and teaching methods
This biannual seminar includes lecture time, student presentations and common projects (analyses of texts and audio-visual material, bibliographical research, etc).
