Aims
Thanks to thorough study of a work of the 19th or 20th century, the student is able, at the end of the course:
- to produce a rigorous personal analysis of the work in question,
- to show a critical attitude towards the various readings and interpretations already existing.
Main themes
Thorough study of a literary work of the 19th or 20th century. The comment, attentive to textual problems and accompanied by linguistic remarks, relates as much to the aesthetics of the selected work as to its historical conditions and its ideological, ethnic, and/or philosophical issues.
Content and teaching methods
Thorough study of a Spanish literary masterpiece of the 20th century.
I. Contextual approach to the work: historical, cultural, and biographical dimensions, etc.
II. Text-based approach to the work (methodology related to the work under analysis).
Lectures are kept to a minimum; the participation of students is encouraged, with a view to the collective development of a well-founded interpretation.
