Aims

The students will have to know quite well the important characteristics of a confined literary period and judge the outmoded nature of several traditional representations.

Main themes

Through the study of a very precise period of time, important works will be examined both for their intrinsic value and for the place they have in the history of the great genres. Notions of avant guard, old guard and " contemporarity " are essential.

Content and teaching methods

The course will cover the main literary productions of a particular year, culturaly important ; examples : 1830, 1862,1913.
