Aims

- to study the cultural and intercultural dimension of the phenomenons observed in clinical psychology.

- to analyse the development of their implications on the methods of intervention in the intercultural field.

Main themes

- Cultural variations and specificities of the concepts of psychic health and psychic illness, of symptomatology, of complaint and call for help, of the methods of intervention and of their social consequences
- Problems of the relations between the singular and universal characters of the phenomenons studied, and between their somatic, psychic and social dimensions.
- Approach of these phenomenons in the frame of the current relations with other societies - namely traditional societies - with the western world, in their world as in ours.
- Study of the dimension and of the psychi effects of the various forms of transplanting (immigration, exile, etc.) at the individual, familial and community levels and at the intergenerational scale.
- Analysis of the processes implied in the intercultural conflict, crisis, disorder and psychological work (namely: importance of the language, of the beliefs and of the religion, for example in the case of psychotherapeutic reports between belgian people and north-african immigrants).
