Aims

To bring the student to a complete understanding of lasers and giving him a global view of existing lasers and their actual applications.

Main themes

1. The laser beam and laser optics
2. Line shape and width of transitions
3. The amplifying medium
4. Different types of lasers and their main applications

Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)

Prerequisites: 1st degree in physical sciences.
Support: Photocopies of handwritten course notes.
Openings: essential course for optics and electroptics domains.
