Aims
To go into the theoretical principles and the experimental basis of pharmacotherapy. To illustrate the ways of the pre-clinical research of new drugs and the principles of their human experimentation.
Main themes
The content of the course is interactive and is based on the analysis of problems. The course is illustrated with practical examples appealing to the modelisation or to some exercises-demonstrations on isolated preparations. The principal orientations are as follows : the characterisation of the pharmaceutical properties of drugs - the characterisation of the drug-receptor interactions with radioligands - the study of the drugs mechanism of action using the techniques of molecular biology. The ethical aspects of the research are also envisaged as well as the rules of drugs registration.
Content and teaching methods
Basis concerning the mechanism of action of drugs and some aspects of their therapeutic use
Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)
Evaluation on the basis of a short written report. Pre-requirement : having followed the general pharmacology course
