Aims

The goal of the course is to give to the future medical doctor, in particular at the time of a preliminary course in the legal organisation, essential information as regards procedure (penal and civil) of medical expertise, as well as elements allowing an approach of the medico-legal problems encountered in practice current medical.

Main themes

The course carries on certain aspects of legal organization, of thanatology, the study of violent deaths, in particular by anoxia (hanging, strangulation, drowning, intoxication with the carbon monoxide, etc.) as well as elements of medico-legal traumatology (comprehension of the modes of constitution of lesions of various natures and definition of tools for morphological identification of different injuries patterns). Are considered then the problems of repair and evaluation of the physical injuries, sexual violences, the biological methods of identification, the intoxications and the states of intoxication as regards road traffic.

Contents:
1. Thanatology and death certificate
2. Highlights of the legal organization through the eye of the justiciable, the victim, the
patient and the medical professional
3. Elements of legal procedure and expertise
4. Syndromes of sudden death
5. Asphyxiations
6. Medico-legal traumatology by intervention of a third
7. Accidentology
8. Sexual abuse
9. Biological methods of identification and affiliation
10. Intoxications and states of intoxication, in particular as regards road traffic
11. Aptitude to driving
12. Questions of evaluation of the physical injuries
13. Study of various fields of damage and health impair compensation

Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)

Lectures with audio-visual support (through "powerpoint" projections) of
cases of medico-legal expertise and necropsy.
Support: syllabus reiterating the main part of lectures and returning to administrative,
legal and bibliographical references.
Oral examination including several questions about distinct parts from the contents.
