Aims

Knowledge acquisition in the way to organize and to manage electronic patient records (EPR), taking in account:
- data collection, transmission, processing
- data security and long term archiving of medical records
The student should demonstrate a competence in the organisation, techniques, laws that might influence the development of health electronic records

Main themes

Main themes
- Data acquisition: terminology, classification systems, coding and grouping
- Information processing: clinical information, laboratory data, drug prescription, imaging, aid to decision making
- On site visits of existing EPRs
- Case studies, discussion
- Practical exercises: coding, archiving, commmunicating, security of access, …

- Some theoretical lessons
- Mostly case studies, references reading, site visits: discussion
- Practical exercises to know the tools
