Aims
This course should give the students an overview of the various methods of investigation and exploration of the hearing function : subjective and objective audiometry (electrophysiology of the hearing function)
Main themes
1) Recall (4H) : Anatomophysiology of hearing - Units of measure dB SPL - HL - SL - HB - octave etc
2) Pure-tone audiometry (6H)
- modes - aerial, bony - ipsi-corticolateral masking - normal and pathological data (frequent) - supralinear tests
3) Speech audiometry (4H)
Basis - special tests - normal and pathological data
4) Acoumetry (1H)
5) Acoustic impedance (5H)
Theoretical recall - normal data - pathological data - measure devices - tympanogram - stapedial reflex - clinical applications (2H)
7) Electrocochleography : - normal results - clinical applications
Content and teaching methods
Audiology
The course will give the students an overview of the methods of investigation of the heariing function : pure-tone liminar and supra-liminar audiometry, speech audiometry, objective audiometry.
Exercices in audiology :
The students will learn the methodology of the examination of the hearing function, as well in the pure-tone, supraliminar and speech audiometry as in objective audiometry. Electrophysiology is tackled in another course.
Discussion of clinical cases
Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)
Anatomy and physiology of the hearing system. The course of Audiology must be given before the course of Hearing deficiency
Lectures with presentation of cases related with the reeducation methods presented. Case studies on videos.
