Aims
Provide to students basis of clinical nutrition in infants and children

Main themes
a.Review of ontogenic development of GI tract in humans including oesophagus-stomach-small intestine-liver-exocrine pancreas.
b.Determine quantitative and qualitative needs in energy, water, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, minerals, trace elements.

Content and teaching methods
The following sectors will be developed
1.Ontogeny of GI tract development in humans with for each organ or system the explanation of a pediatric disorder in relationship with nutrition.
2.Review of quantitative and qualitative needs in several classes of nutrients with for each nutrient the review of a pediatric disorder in relationship with nutrition : energy, water, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, minerals and trace elements.
3.Role of nucleotides, nucleosides and polyamines in foods and importance in growth and nutrition.
