Aims
The course aims at providing the student with a general acquisition of Classical Arabic morphology and syntax, leading to the reading of texts.
Main themes
After having been introduced to the mechanisms of writing in Classical Arabic through basic and vocalised sentences in the lower level of Classical Arabic (first part), the student will be initiated to the study of partly vocalised or non-vocalised texts of literary Classical Arabic. The course provides a comprehensive study of Arabic morphology and syntax.
Content and teaching methods
This course is the second part of the initiation to literary Classical Arabic. The morphology and syntax of literary Classical Arabic will be dealt with in a comprehensive way. For possible complements to this course see the abstract for GLOR 1805.

Prerequisite : the course Classical Arabic (first part).
Evaluation : Oral examination on the contents of the course.
Teaching materials : the course is a free adaptation of the learning method "Teach Yourself Arabic (J. Smart). Sheets of exercises are regulary distributed.
