Main themes
The lectures are devoted to the commented reading of texts from the epicsand purânas, the classical poetry (kâvya) or the narrative literature. To the commentaries on the language, the literary expressing and the cultural context, is added a philological training in the editorial problems, including the reading of manuscripts and early scholia. The hebdomadary work of the student is to begin with the transliteration of the texts in devanâgarî. Besides the lectures, each student prepares by himself a peculiar text, chosen according to his interest and his level of learning.

Prerequisite : a basic knowledge of the Sanskrit language or GLOR 1671-1672 (GLOR 1817).
