Aims
This course belongs to the group of critical courses aiming at complementing the technical education offered to our graduate students with a more philosophical, methodological and historical reflection. It should help stu-dents to get a broader perspective in an age of specialization and emphasis on technical skills.
A student having taken the course should master the conceptual bases of social choice theory or of contempo-rary ethics and political philosophy, depending on the focus of the course.

Main themes
The course reviews recent developments either in contemporary ethics and political philosophy or in the formal theory of social choice.
