Aims
The course aims to familiarise students with the major role played by the European Court of Human Rights in the protection of the European Convention on Human Rights (the most important treaty ratified by Belgium in the expanding field of Human Rights, the practical implications of which are reflected in all legal branches).
By the end of the course, the students should have an understanding of major trends in the case law of the European Court of Human Rights , and they should be able to set against this background the new standards that the Court might impose in international human rights law.
