Aims
This course provides the students with theoretical and practical training on the law with regard to foreigners. It firstly looks at positive law, illustrating the theoretical knowledge resulting from the introductory course on law. By the end of the course, the student should be able to understand and apply the legislation relating to foreigners.
Main themes
The course leads to a study of the legislation relating to the law on foreigners, both in so far as conditions on access to territory, residence, settling and difficulties linked to the integration of foreigners are concerned and in connection with the rights and advantages to do with foreigners staying in the country (civil rights, social rights). Throughout the course, the studies specify the distinctions between the different categories of foreigners: common law, Europeans, refugees, students. National sources (law, jurisprudence) are analysed in the light of international sources, especially European ones. (European Convention of Human Rights, European Union texts, jurisprudences of Strasbourg and Luxembourg).
The teaching method takes the form of lectures and practice and includes the study of
jurisprudence and practical cases.
