Aims
At the end of the course the student should be able to:
- Analyse the cranio facial growth and to make a cephalometric tracing.
- Make an orthodontic diagnosis based on a radiological analysis. (orthopantomogram and lateral cephalogram) and an analysis of the study casts.
- Understand the objectives of orthodontic treatment with removable and fixed appliances.
- Make a treatment plan of not complicated orthodontic cases.
- Adapt a place maintainer and to distinguish the indications.

Content and teaching methods
The different subjects will be discussed in groups of 10 students.
These courses will be started with a theoretical introduction followed by practical demonstrations and explanations.
The student makes the study assisted by an assistant: analysis of radiographs and dental casts, he makes himself a removable appliance, personal evaluation of a treated case.
He learns individually and in small groups to make a treatment plan based on all the data gathered in the patients file.

Knowledge required: other orthodontic courses, dental anatomy, anatomy of head and neck.
Evaluation: no examination but a general appreciation which will be part of the clinical evaluation.
Support: file of treated patients (including pictures, radiographs and study casts), orthodontic appliances and material.
