Aims
To give DEA students additional demographic analysis based on recent methodology that is more research-specific, and focused on carefully targeted problems. To adapt the content occasionally through "special questions".
Main themes
- Measurement and analysis of the biological and behaviouristic variables of fertility. Bongaarts-type models.
- Measurement and analysis of the intermediary variables of mortality.
- Introduction to a biographical analysis of demographical phenomena.
- Individual indicators for fertility and infant mortality (e.g. DRAT).
- Observation and measurement of international migrations.
- Analytical problems associated with small populations (e.g. small numbers and calculation errors).

A course combining theory, practice and illustrations.

Assessment: This will be in the form of personal work that students will have chosen on the basis of their DEA dissertation.
