Aims

To introduce demographers to epidemiology and epidemiological tools, with particular attention being focused on aspects specific to each of the disciplines (i.e. epidemiology and demography) and to mutually complementary factors through a study of health phenomena (e.g. reproductive health and mortality).
To enable demographers to participate more effectively in actions and research relating to health.

Main themes

- The objectives and strategies of health.
- An epidemiological model of illness and the concept of causality.
- Strategies for observation and research.
- Measuring frequency, effect and impact.
- Accuracy and validity.
- Case studies.
