Aims
To complete and extend the general notions developed in the inorganic chemistry course of 1st year masters (CHIM2130). This last course constitutes an indispensable prerequisite. This teaching is for all students of first and second year of their masters that want to complete their formation in inorganic and organometallic chemistry.
Main themes
The teaching will cover advanced aspects of coordination and organometallic chemistry, putting the emphasis on structural aspects (isolobal analogies, metal-metal bonds, and metal clusters) and on the aspects of reactivity (reaction mechanisms in coordination and organometallic chemistry). It also describes the importance of inorganic chemistry in the living world (bioinorganic chemistry and medicinal inorganic chemistry).
Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)
Prerequisites: Inorganic chemistry (CHIM2130).
Evaluation: oral examination.
Support: Inorganic Chemistry: principles of structure and reactivity, J. Huheey, E. Keiter, R. Keiter, 4th ed., Harper and Collins, 1993. Other bibliographic references advised at the beginning of this education. Overhead transparencies used by the teacher.
