Aims
The integrated field work's objective is to illustrate by real situations and using a global approach the notions and concepts introducedduring the courses of ecology and biogeography.
Main themes
1. Observations of main biogeographical elements of the south of Belgium and the ecosystems involved : climate, passage types, the plant and its dynamics, types of fauna associated, insertion of man and his effects on the ecosystems. 2. Quantitative comparaisons of communities of necrophage and predator organisms of sites of different contrasts. Mesure of variable states of the animal populations including their dynamics. 3. Application of bioindicator levels of running water quality. Comparaison of fauna with the water and certain of their physico-chemical parameters. Assisted work : the field work is centered on the bioclimatic region of the Ardennes but will often use comparaisons with contrasted sites of surrounding regions (Condroz, Famenne and Gaume). The observation of the main ecosystems and the installment of experimental protocols constitute the basic material of the field work.
