Aims

Specialised course for a student's initial research programme.

Main themes

Special questions examined in depth by using all available methods, including the natural and exact sciences.

Content and teaching methods

The course comprises a theoretical section with lectures on the prehistoric sites in Belgium from the Palaeolithic to the Neolithic eras, study of archaeological material, chronology and non-utilitarian witnesses, in the context of European prehistory. The practical part discusses knowledge of the typology of the lithic and bone industries, using the prehistoric collections at UCL (Catholic University of Louvain).
