 Aims
Considering problems linked to the profession of agricultural engineering, the course introduces, in the students' training, the concern about promoting values, justified in the world of today by the religious fact and, notably, the Christian reference.
Main themes
1. The gap in the standards of living between the northern and southern countries of the planet underlines the worldwide dimension of the social question. Referring notably to the social teaching of the Church, the course presents the orientations of a responsible solidarity morality applied to the development problems.
2. The human species supporting the biosphere, nature transformation by the technique is bound to man responsibility. What does the theological reflection say about man's place in nature and environment management, the introduction of biotechnologies included?
Content and teaching methods
The course comprises two parts
1. Referring to the role of religions in the promotion of social justice, the course presents the main thrust of an ethics of the peoples' development.
2. The course identifies the religious meaning from environmental matters and insists on the ethical responsibility in fundamental research among nature sciences and among their applications to the fields of agriculture and biotechnology industry.
