Aims
To acquaint students with the main tools of literary criticism.
Main themes
In the second study year, students are acquainted with the main theories of 19th and 20th century literary criticism. This theoretical approach requires the support of a practical approach dealing with both the texts and the main aesthetic movements from this period. Literary criticism is not an isolated trend; it can be elaborated both in opposition to or in symbiosis with its contemporary artistic movements. The seminar will thus propose a practical application of these theories.
Content and teaching methods
The seminar will deal with literary questions specific to the contemporary period. The analysis of works will be linked to a reflection on literary movements and the principles of fiction. The authors to be studied will be determined at the beginning of the year.
