Main themes

Following a review of the general principles and models in the basic course and a deepening in the "operations management" course, this seminar will enable students to carry out more active, and more personal, work on a subject chosen from the field of production and operations management.
It will be an opportunity for students to exercise their analytical and diagnostic skills, and to compare theoretical approaches with practical realities.

Content and teaching methods

At the first meeting, participants will be asked to explain the subject they want to study either individually or in a small group of two or three people. The subject will be sufficiently restricted to facilitate a real contribution without spending too much time and energy.
The selected theme will be subjected to a brief, but precise, bibliographical investigation, and will then be examined in practical reality through visits to some enterprises and organisations.
At the end of the term, each theme will be the subject of a written report and a presentation in plenary session: these will focus on comparisons between theory and practice, and between different practices in different organisations.
