Aims
sYNTHESIS ANd INTERGRATION OF THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED THROUGH THE GENERAL PHYSICS COURSES OF THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF THE PHYSICS DEGREE. A pratical implementation of this knowledge through the actual realisation of experimental physics laboratories, also a way of introducing to the methods of experimental physics, the analysis of data, and a critical assessment of the analytical approach towards physical phenomena and of the scientific method in the natural sciences.
Main themes
These integrated experimental physics laboratories remain sufficiently open in order to go beyond the specific aspects of the material being taught in the general physics courses, and thus call upon the students' own personal initiative in the pratical realisation of their experiments. The activity is supervised by professional researchers of the relevant physics domain for each experiment, and is pursued within collaborative groups of students.
Content and teaching methods
Students perform two physics experiments to be chosen from a given list that may change from one year to the next depending on the interests of the Physics Department's researchers who propose and supervise these exeriments.
