Aims

By the end of this preseminar, the student should be able to put into practice the historian's procedure in the documentary and critical study of a precise question

Main themes

This preseminar is intended as a preparation for the corresponding licence seminar.
During group work sessions, each participant, based on a preliminary personal work, presents his analysis of an aspect of his chosen theme, paying particular attention to heuristic and critical aspects.
The procedures and treatment stages, as well as the general synthesis and conclusions are elucidated in common.

Content and teaching methods

Introduction to individual work on a question of Greek or Roman history; individual research is guided and controlled continuously.

Evaluation : on the basis of written reports.
Teaching materials : Student notes.
Teaching : by the instructor and, in some cases, assistants assigned by the Department.
