Aims
Scientific introductory approach to two important Christian civilisations of the Middle Ages
Main themes
General basic knowledge of the history of Copt Egypt (II-X century) and of Ethiopia (V-XIX century). Use of the accessible working tools and how to complete them. Kept works of Copt and Ethiopian literature (source and translations).
The course does not require any knowledge of Copt or Ethiopian.
Content and teaching methods
Study of the most striking movements, especially those of the Copt monarchism and of its literary productions, as well as the texts on the history of Ethiopia from IV to XVI century. One hour will also be spent on the Christian Nubia.

Prerequisite : The course does not require any knowledge of Copt or Ethiopian.
Evaluation : oral exam.
Texts and books : documents will be handed out by the professor.
