Aims

At the end of this seminar, the student will have understood, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the epistemological stakes linked to the study and the teaching of classical languages and literature. He will thus be aware of the relative character of university knowledge and conceptions of Antiquity, as well as the implications for the didactic transfer of his teaching.

Main themes

Focusing on the problem of memory or on the examination of a particular question, this seminar will give students the chance to analyse and subsequently publicly present the methodological difficulties encountered and the solutions proposed. Each presentation will be followed by a discussion. Antiquity and us: What do we know about it? How do we get to know it? What about the validity of methods; the invariability of signifieds; the idealisation of the " classical " ages, the " Greek miracle ", continuity and schism, ...? Reflection on the problems linked to didactic transfer. More specifically, discussion on the legitimacy of re-writing or abridging Latin texts proposed to beginners.
15 hours of seminars, organised in groups of 20 students.
Compulsory seminar for students enrolled in teacher training (" agrégation "), optional for the others.
The writing of a term paper on a subject proposed by the teacher or chosen with his agreement, followed by an oral interview. Participation during the seminars is taken into account. To be done in 2nd " licence ": it is understood that the preparatory work for the memoir is already well underway.
