Aims

The student should be able to read the Qur'an, to translate some parts of it into French and to understand commentaries from Muslim writers on these verses, at the end of this lecture.

Main themes

The Arabic prose begun with the Qur'an, which provides us with a reliable text. This text is translated and commented during this lecture.

Content and teaching methods

Reading the Qur'an, translating it into French, reading and translating Muslim commentaries on the Qur'an.

Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)

Prerequisite: one year of classical and/or modern Arabic.
Teaching materials : texts on photocopies and text processing, audio cassettes.
