Aims

Knowledge:
The general theme of the field trip is land use, which depends on several factors: policy, global change and the physical environment. The student must be able to recognise the phenomena of land use change on the ground for the examples shown in the study regions.

Skills:
The capacity to analyze and observe phenomena in the field and to link them with the models and theories proposed in other geography courses
The capacity to work in small groups.

Main themes

Prerequisites:
None

Assisted work sessions:
A week of field work per year for both GEOG 21 and 22. This field trip is undertaken one year in Mediterranean Spain (Almeria) and the other year in the United Kingdom (Cornwall)
The students are divided into small groups that work on specific themes (biogeography, water resources, land use change, socio-economic impacts, land degradation, etc.).

Personnal work:
Each student keeps a written record of their field work. Presentations and discussions of the days themes are organised for the evenings. The professors and assistants are always available for discussion throughout the week.

Notions acquired:
The capacity to work in small groups
The oral presentation of results
The written presentation of results
