Aims

With respect to the course on modern authors (FILO 2150), the advanced course in modern philosophy is conceived of as an introduction to research. It consists in a text-based course by the end of which the student should be able to critically comment, analyse, and interpret one or more modern texts - this assumes adequate reference to secondary sources - from the standpoint of a problematic that varies each year. The student should also be able to situate the text(s) in the context of modern philosophy as a whole, and to evince its posterity and its echoes in the contemporary world.

The themes addressed are in most cases fundamental themes of modern philosophy that contribute to contemporary philosophical debate.
