Main themes
To familiarise students with actuarial theories based on advanced mathematical techniques not covered by other courses.
Content and teaching methods
Content
In practice, it is difficult to apply several actuarial theories because actuaries do not know the statistical distributions on which they are based. This course will show how even fragmentary information about these distributions (e.g. moments and unimodality) can help to achieve practical results.
Other actuarial theories may also be developed during the courses.
Methodology
Lectures interspersed with theoretical exercises.
